At Traditional Strength, we specialize in helping beginners, young and old, safely and confidently build lasting strength.
Our expert strength coaches teach proven barbell movements—like the squat, press, bench press, and deadlift—using a methodical, personalized approach. Each session includes real-time coaching, ensuring your form is dialed in and progress stays consistent.
We tailor every exercise to your current ability, and we design training plans around your unique goals—whether that's getting stronger, improving mobility, boosting confidence, or aging with power.
No experience necessary. Just show up, and we’ll meet you where you are. We offer both private and group training sessions by appointment at our private facility in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Most of our members train in a group setting three times per week. Each session includes three exercises and takes 90 minutes. Classes are offered in time blocks of 3-4 hours. Members can show up anytime within their block and receive coaching. This maximizes flexibility for each member.
Every repetition you perform is coached, ensuring you're moving safely and effectively. You'll add weight gradually over time—getting stronger, more confident, and more skilled with every session.
This process is not easy—and that’s the point. It’s challenging, but because it’s challenging, it delivers real results. If you're ready to be part of a community that understands the benefits of hard work, we invite you to train with us. Because at Traditional Strength, WE MAKE STRONG PEOPLE.

Greg Herman is an Edmond, Oklahoma native, and the Owner and Head Coach of Traditional Strength. A Marine Corps veteran and passionate strength coach, Greg is committed to helping people of all ages build lasting strength through barbell training.
He began his coaching journey as an apprentice under Starting Strength Coach Chase Lindley at Starting Strength Westmoore. After two years of hands-on mentorship, Greg went on to open Starting Strength Quail Springs in 2023.
When the Starting Strength gyms in the OKC metro area closed in early 2024, Greg launched a new chapter: Traditional Strength—a gym built on the same uncompromising principles of barbell training, but with greater independence and community focus.
In January 2025, Traditional Strength opened its first private facility on North Western Avenue in Edmond, Oklahoma, offering expert coaching and a supportive environment for lifters of all experience levels.
As Greg puts it,
“It is my belief that the process of weight training is also a Rite of Passage. And it works for all ages.”
His mission is simple: to help everyday people become stronger—physically, mentally, and personally—through disciplined, effective strength training.
